Bio: Dr. Jonathan Alexander McKenna originally worked as a top surgeopn in Shortland Street Hospital in New Zealand. After going in and out of medical school, Jonathan ended up having an HIV scare and leaving town for good, in which time he flew to America and worked in L.A. Many years later he returns back to his hometown.
In his teens he was expelled from an Australian boarding school and came back to NZ. He starts dating a male paramedic, much to his father's outrage. His parents struggle to come to terms with his sexuality but eventually learn to adjust to it, saving Jonathan and Jamie from homophobic attacks. The relationship does not last, however as Jamie breaks up with Jonathan as he wants a more serious relationship. They both leave Shortland Street separately. Jonathan returns however when his mum falls into a coma.

Soon after, Jonathan leaves again to go to medical school. On his return, he has an affair with a social worker his sister is interested in, however the two break up and Jonathan leaves the country when he finds out he may have contracted HIV. Tests later come back to show him that it was just a scare and he is clean.
In September 2010, his sister Rachel receives a phone call saying that Jonathan has been in a very serious car crash but is in a stable condition. She travels to meet him and he eventually recovers. A year later, Jonathan arrives back in NZ unannounced claiming he is there to reconnect with Rachel. However it is soon clear he is back to receive high risk surgery on his brain following his car accident the past year. He develops Hysterical Blindness and starts to date his female surgeon. In July Jonathan finally regains his eyesight and begins to work as a surgeon in Shortland Street, becoming a very well known surgeon. However after many dating complications, he decides to leave New Zealand once and for all, getting a postion in Miami as a surgeon.

Jonathan has a cheeky personality and his seemingly arrogant behaviour has caused him to be at odds many times with his family, especially with his father and sister. However throughout his many stints and troubles he has maintained a loving relationship with his mother.
He is described as "drop dead gorgeous, highly intelligent, gifted athlete and all round Mr Nice Guy" by friends and loved ones. His personality however has been known to seem arrogant and although was by no means cruel, his arrogant flippancy cuts like a knife. Having never experienced rejection and self-doubt, Jonathan could sometimes be blithely ignorant of the emotional pain of others. He is protective of his baby sister but in his youth often found himself competing wither her for parental funds and attention.

He is a high-achiever and is happiest with challenging cases. He is proud of his skills as a surgeon and is working towards becoming one of the top surgeons at the Miami hospital.
He loves to go out, socialise and party. He is very friendly and charming and can get protective over loved ones. His charming personality helps him get what he wants and is a great asset in helping patients relax. In his time off he plays some sports but loves movie nights too.

Oh you mean Dr. Hunt? I've seen him lurking about haha. We don't usually work the same sorts of surgeries, as he's trauma if I remember correctly, but I've seen him around.
I know a lotta surgeons so sometimes takes a while haha
