born on an American airbase in England, James is the oldest child of Richard and Margret Hamilton, he and his younger sisters Stephine and Rachel received a robust education, not only in the classroom, but off base as well, given their father's position in the Air Force, the Hamilton family moved all over the world, after England, there were stops in Germany, Spain, Greece and Alaska, during the family's trek across the globe, James gained an interest in martial arts and became fluent in German, Spanish and Greek, the family soon settled at Homestead Joint Air Reserve Base in Miami-Dade County, Florida, were James attended Florida International University, were he majored in Criminal Justice with a minor in Religious Studies, while in college, James was a member of the martial arts club, after graduation, James applied to the Miami-Dade Police Academy, were he would graduate top of his class, after four years on patrol, James applied for an opening with the crime lab, he was quickly accepted and soon made a name for himself, quickly being promoted to CSI Level 2
